Dr. Bethany Hannafon is an Assistant Professor of Gynecologic Oncology at the Stephenson Cancer Center, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, and Leader of the Gynecologic Cancers Research Group. She earned her Ph.D. from Boston University in 2010, where she identified dysregulated microRNAs in pre-invasive breast cancer. Her lab studies extracellular vesicles, enzymes, and kinases involved in cancer progression and therapy resistance. A dedicated mentor, she has trained over twenty students, postdocs, and residents, and actively supports career development through the American Society for Investigative Pathology (ASIP), where she chairs the Breast Cancer Scientific Interest Group. She is also a co-investigator on the Route 66 Endometrial Cancer SPORE grant and a recipient of ASIP’s PISA and Visiting Lectureship Awards.
