Internship opportunity: Scientific Writer at Boston QSP (Quantitative Systems Pharmacology) – Nights

Scientific Writer at Boston QSP (Quantitative Systems Pharmacology)

Boston QSP is a small nonprofit that works to enhance the role of quantitative systems and modeling in all aspects of drug development. To this end, the organization hosts bimonthly events that include a seminar talk from a researcher in the field and a mixer for all attendees. Recently, the organization has expanded its event schedule to include events in digital health on the alternate months. This is an entirely volunteer-run organization that has cultivated a very close-knit and enthusiastic community. They are looking for a scientific writer to join their team. This person will summarize the seminar talk and interview the speaker at each event and produce blog posts for the Boston QSP community.

Responsibilities:

  • Research the speaker
  • Interview the speaker (typically during the mixer)
  • Attend monthly events
  • Help set up and breakdown at the events
  • Write blog posts on the event content in a timely fashion
  • Ensure speaker approval of the content

Requirements:

  • Graduate student or postdoc in a relevant field (biology, systems biology, engineering, mathematics, statistics, etc.) Knowledge of quantitative systems and computer modeling is not required.
  • Ability to attend monthly events in Cambridge, MA (typically mid-month, always on a Wednesday evening)
  • Able to work independently and take initiative
  • An interest in science communication. Previous writing experience is not required.
