Emily Rybalko
Marching Band Flute Section Leader
Hometown: Staten Island, New York
Bio: Hi, I’m Emily!! I’m a second-year at Northeastern University studying Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and a minor in Global Fashion Studies! I’ve been playing flute for 11 years now and marching for 5, and if that wasn’t enough, I also play alto and tenor saxophone, piccolo, and violin! I’m a member of the Northeastern Pep Band and am currently serving as their Treasurer, so my finance degree is already getting put to work! Outside of band, I love exploring the city, fashion, and art! I’m around BU so often that some of my friends genuinely think that’s where I go to school. I’m proud to be an official Husky and honorary Terrier!
What is your favorite part of being a band member? My favorite part is honestly the community! Even though I’m not a BU student, I’ve found a community where I genuinely feel welcome and at home every time I show up. It doesn’t matter where you go to school or how long you’ve been playing, everyone just clicks, and that sense of belonging is what makes every rehearsal and competition feel like I’m home!
