Ren Williams

Pep Band Flute Section Leader

Hometown: Roxbury, Massachusetts

Bio: I was born in Pennsylvania but I have lived in the Greater Boston Area for a little over 13 years. My journey as a musician formally started in my freshman fall semester of 2024! I marched flute in the BU Marching Band, then joined BU Pep Band in the following semester. In addition to flute, I learned to play trombone under our former Graduate Teaching Assistant Misa Womack and later marched trombone in the Fall 2025 season. I have since switched to piccolo in Pep Band and plan to march baritone in Fall 2026!

What is your favorite part of being a band member? My favorite part of being a band member is wielding the drive as an individual and working to bring it out among my peers. It makes me feel most alive when we as an ensemble take the field for a show. I can feel and sense the nervous yet excited jitters as we prepare to throw pure passion out to the crowd. My favorite part of pep band is doing cheers and being a part of the radiating spirit that keeps our teams fighting for the win!
