Athletic Bands Classes of 2020 & 2021

Participants

The opportunity to perform on ice on Friday 10/21 is open to any Athletic Bands Alumni from the classes of 2020 & 2021.

Music

• The music for this stand-still performance on ice during the 2nd intermission will be:

  • Eat ‘Em Up
• Music will be sent to participants in advance (see shared Google folder).
• Instrument lyres & paper sheet music will be available for the performance for those who wish to use them.
• UPDATE 10/20: The digital FlipFolder app can be used instead, if you wish. Phone mounts provided to you.
• UPDATE 10/20: A brief music rehearsal for Winds & Rhythm Section will be held in the Friends of Hockey Lounge, 1st floor of Agganis Arena (same room as the ticketed pre-game reception) during the 1st intermission of the game. This is where you will retrieve your instrument & equipment, and where you’ll return it as well.
• UPDATE 10/20: Guard participants will rehearse outdoors by the loading dock behind the Arena during the first intermission.
• There will be no drill or movement on the ice, so there will be no need for visual rehearsal. Participants will simply take the ice in lines and stand in formation (and then blow the house down!).

Uniform

The uniform for this performance is:

• Red BU Bands polo on top*
• Black pants on bottom
• Any shoes (sneakers work best for ice cleats to slip-over)
• Optional undershirts (long or short-sleeved) should be all-white.
• Ice cleats will be provided for the performance.

*Red BU Bands polo shirts will be available to loan on a first-come, first-served basis (see web form for more info). Anyone who needs to borrow a shirt will receive directions for pickup & return, both at the arena.

Equipment

Alumni participants are urged to bring their own instruments if possible (instrument color does not matter). Anyone who needs to borrow an instrument can request one via the registration webform below. Ice cleats that slip over your shoes will be loaned to all participants.

Loaner instruments, lyres, and sheet music will all be brought to the arena for you, and can be returned there after the ice show.

Food

Food will not be provided for performers. We recommend you check out the pre-game reception BU Bands is hosting at Agganis Arena and register through Eventbrite.

• Enter Agganis Arena through the main entrance. (Game ticket is required) If you are attending the BU Bands Pre-Game Reception in the Friends & Family Hockey Lounge, it will start at 5:30pm (Reception ticket is required)
• 1st Intermission – Brief music rehearsal in Agganis Arena will take place during the 1st intermission of the game in the Friends of Hockey Lounge, 1st floor. This is where you will retrieve your instrument & equipment, and where you’ll return it as well. Guard participants will rehearse separately behind the arena during 1st intermission.
• Participants then head to their seats for the game (ticket required).
• With 10 minutes remaining in the 2nd period of the game, all participants head down to the Zamboni tunnel (this will be covered at 1st intermission rehearsal).
• The performance on ice will take place at the top of the 2nd intermission.
• Then, return your equipment to the Friends of Hockey Lounge and we’ll take it from there.
• Please note: The 2022-2023 Pep Band will take up all seats in section 118 during the game, so unfortunately there will not be room for Alumni to sit-in during the game. (Be on the lookout for the return of the All-Alumni Pep Band in January!)
• After the game, everybody head to section 118 for a special “4th Period” performance by the Pep Band.

Alumni participants in the ice show will need a game ticket. More information will be provided regarding securing a game ticket should the game take place. Please register your interest for a game ticket through Eventbrite to stay updated.
