Shuttle & Transit Safety
BU Shuttle (The BUS)
Masks are still required on BU Shuttles, which are also disinfected multiple times each day. BU Shuttle protocols may change as updates are made to federal, state, and MBTA protocols. Please refer to Terrier Transit or the BUS website for live arrival times, schedules, and more information.
Using Public Transportation
When commuting to campus, students, faculty, and staff must follow City of Boston and Commonwealth of Massachusetts recommendations. If you rely on public transportation, you should frequently review changes to service and passenger protocols on the MBTA’s COVID-19 website. We encourage you to visit the website for the latest updates regarding cleaning, schedules, service interruptions, and fare information. This information is subject to change.
For faculty and staff, reduced public transit schedules or changes to service may require flexibility in work schedules and staggered arrival and departure times. If your commute is affected, speak with your department head or supervisor.
The Terrier Transit app (iOS and Android) is available so the BU community can consider all their transportation options and routes in one mobile app—the BUS; MBTA buses, trolleys, and trains; walking; bicycling; Bluebikes; and Zipcar.
Please visit the Charles River Campus Parking & Transportation Services website for up-to-date details on permit costs, terms, and lot locations. All permits are now managed through the Transportation Management Portal. (Please see the how-to guides for using the portal for students and faculty/staff.)
For the most up-to-date information, contact BUMC-BMC Parking & Transportation Services or call 617-638-4915. For monthly parking, Medical Campus employees should fill out a BUMC-BMC Parking Permit Application.
For more information about bicycling, visit Bicycle Commuter Benefits and Resources, including information on discounted Bluebikes memberships for BU employees.
