Changes for BU Today
A new logo is one of many changes being made to BU Today at the start of the fall semester.
Changes for BU Today
After 20 years, it’s time for a little freshening up
BU Today is 20 years old this year! Like any 20-year-old, it’s grown a lot through the years. This seems like the right time to introduce some changes, as reading habits and patterns and the media landscape have all evolved over time.
The email that lands in your Boston University inbox at 6 am each weekday will now look a little different. First, you might notice the new logo that will appear in the email and on our BU Today home page. New font, new colors, new design. We hope you like it as much as we do. The email itself will be more visual, as we feature more engaging photographs of our campus community and showcase more videos of students, faculty, staff, and campus life. Those videos will take different shapes—some will be the highly polished, documentary-style videos we have done for years and others will be more raw, shot with social media in mind.
We are also adding a new feature, Flashback Fridays, where we will dig into the BU archives for photos that remind us all how far the University has come.
Events that happen on campus help build community, and you will see more robust promotion of important and fun events from our Featured Events calendar.
We will continue to present great stories, in various lengths and forms, highlighting all that makes BU special, from its core values to its people. That means you—the people who come here every day to teach, to learn, to research, and who keep this campus humming, along with our partners and supporters in Greater Boston, across Massachusetts, and around the world.
You will still see the same deep coverage, in BU Today and The Brink, of the world-changing research happening every day on the Charles River and Medical campuses. And, of course, BU Today and Bostonia will continue showing how the University’s 400,000 alumni are leaving their mark around the world.
And there is something else you will see more of: all the ways that Boston University is also Boston’s university. We’ll cover classroom experiences, internships, and programs that show just how closely the University is intertwined with this world-class city.
As always, we want to hear from you—with story ideas, suggestions, and feedback. Reach us at today@bu.edu. And you can reach me personally at dmost@bu.edu.
Thanks for reading, and we look forward to another tremendous academic year ahead.
