BU affiliation

Government policy program administrator, BU Office of Government & Community Affairs (GCA); College of Arts & Sciences, Class of 2023

What is the honor you’ve received?

I was appointed to serve on Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s SPARK Boston Council 2025-2026, representing my neighborhood, East Boston.

What is the appointment about?

The SPARK Boston Council advises the mayor and the City of Boston on issues affecting 20- to 35-year-olds, by providing guidance on policies and creating events and programming to get 20- to 35-year-olds more civically engaged. This year’s cohort comprises 38 members from nearly 500 applications.

Why is it meaningful?

This opportunity is meaningful because of my love for Boston. There are many ways for people to get involved in the community, from volunteering with local organizations to engaging with city services and processes. I want to help convey the benefits of being involved in your community and encourage others to do so. As a first-generation college graduate, I know firsthand how transformative access to information and opportunities can be.

My own experiences have shaped this passion, from volunteering as a student growing up in the Bronx, N.Y., to serving with Jumpstart in college to my service trip to New Orleans, where I volunteered at the Louisiana SPCA, and my current role at GCA. All of these experiences have taught me the lasting impact that hands-on support can have in the community, and I am excited to bring that same commitment to the work we will do together on the council.

What’s next for you?

The Spark Council will allow me to connect with other Gen Z and millennials from diverse backgrounds and fields, who share this passion. I look forward to meeting and collaborating with City Hall staff, learning about their work, and exploring ways the council can partner with the city to support, amplify, and create new programming.

My next steps include getting to know my cohort, attending monthly SPARK Boston Council meetings, actively taking part in group discussions, offering my skills and expertise, and leveraging my network to help advance our work and deliver engaging programming.
