Celebrate One Boston Day with These Events around the City
Celebrate One Boston Day by participating in acts of service across the city to honor victims, survivors, and first responders of the 2013 marathon bombings
With the 127th Boston Marathon only days away, it is important to honor and remember those impacted by the tragic marathon bombing, as its tenth anniversary looms. To honor those whose lives changed forever because of the attacks on April 15th, 2013, the 15th of April has been deemed as ‘One Boston Day.’ Mayor Michelle Wu explains that the celebration continues to be “a living demonstration of our strength when we come together as one.” One Boston Day will consist of a variety of events and activities that will be held throughout the city, to encourage citizens to spread kindness and inspire unity.
1. Franklin Park Community Cleanup
Stop by the Franklin Park Playstead from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for a community cleanup on Pierpoint Road. Join the Mayor’s Youth Council and Office of Civic Organizing to help clean up Boston’s largest green space. To sign up for the event, click here.
2. Stepping Strong Center Blood Drives

The center, which aims to turn tragedy into hope for trauma patients, will be partnering with the Massachusetts General Hospital Blood Donor Center for the drive. The Stepping Strong Center was founded in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings and will be offering demonstrations to participants on how to help someone suffering from traumatic blood loss. The two drives take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You can register for the drive at City Hall Plaza here and the drive at Copley Square Park here.
