  1. I loved the “mock commute” bit. I would usually go out to pick up a coffee or bagel before logging onto my remote internship, I felt so silly doing but it was honestly such a good way to transition from home to work life. As I go into another round of remote work, I’m definitely going to be referring back to this article for inspiration when that work-from-home fatigue kicks in. Thanks for the ideas!

  2. Thank you for writing this! With the pandemic, a lot of people have struggled with mental health, including me, and these are helpful reminders. Worrying less about what anyone thinks is something that I have been trying to work on myself. My favorite mood booster is striking up a conversation with a stranger because meeting someone new and having an interesting conversation can turn my entire day around!

  3. Absolutely love this piece! The humor that has been used throughout the piece goes with tip #3. There is something to be said about tip #1 – “it is better to risk looking foolish than feeling bad” is a powerful statement that I wish was just as easy to implement. A lot of people would find it difficult to feel good about themselves when they know they look foolish, but where there’s a will, there’s a way! I wonder if these tips would help only the usual quarantine blues, or also people who have fallen into depression due to the pandemic (if only just to help them feel a little better). Staying well really did feel like a full-time job during peak pandemic times, and I did find myself practicing some of these tips. It also helped me to journal, interact with animals, and cook strange recipes off the internet. Thank you for all the great tips!

  4. I really like the format and the style of this article. It is formatted in a “list” way and is very conversational, making it very straightforward and understandable. I especially liked tip #2 which is to find a metaphor that captures what you’re going through. I found this to be a very helpful tip as we are often so deep in our current situation and mindset we often do not see the whole picture clearly. Creating abstractions can help create a different perspective. While this article is more so focused on the general decline of people’s mental health caused by isolation from the pandemic, I believe that some of these points can still be implemented to help with specific mental health issues. However, there are still some points that cast some of my doubts, especially tip #7: pull a nice prank. While I do think it is important to find things to loosen up, I question its validity and effectiveness to actually have long term change, since this article is about mental health, a serious topic. under the tip it said that “it’s better to risk looking foolish than feeling bad”, which I don’t really find any correlation between the two sentences. I also think tip #1 is easier said than done. Obviously it is very important to not let the opinions of others dictate you emotions, but having that much self security can be really hard, Overall I love how easy going this article is in providing starting ways to improve mental health.
