Words of Advice for the Class of 2024 as an Unprecedented Year Begins
Upperclassmen offer entering freshmen tips for getting the most out of life at BU
It’s a time-honored BU Today tradition to reach out to graduating seniors each year just before Commencement and ask them for some words of advice for the fall’s entering freshmen. This year, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was no Commencement, and everyone was scattered across the country. So we adjusted our annual video, reaching out to upperclassmen via Zoom in the weeks before the fall 2020 semester started. We asked them to come up with some tips for the Class of 2024 about getting the most out of their college experience.
Among their suggestions: how to make friends, how to discover passions you may not have expected to have, and how to explore campus and Boston safely in the midst of the pandemic.
While acknowledging that these incoming BU students’ freshman year will be unprecedented in many ways because of the pandemic, the sophomores, juniors, and seniors say that abiding by the COVID-19 protocols and working to make sure everyone stays safe and healthy has made the BU community feel more connected than ever.
