There are 10 comments on Six Quick Stats about Applicants to the Class of 2022

  1. I wonder how much noise there is in these stats. High school students use the common application to apply to dozens of colleges so I would imagine most schools are seeing higher application rates across the board. Which university’s like because they rake in more application fees and get their selectivity stats artificially juiced up in publications like US News.

    1. You are right that it is definitely easy to apply to dozens of schools using the common application. I do however think that the huge spike in early decision applicants speaks volumes.

  2. I’ve heard that CGS is being downsized. That there will only be 200 September entrants and the rest will be assigned to the CGS January-London option, whose stats do not “count” in the rankings.

  3. record-breaking 64,470 students who applied… to fill the 3,300 Class of 2022 slots. Wow! that is about 5% accept rate!!!!! hard than Harvard!!

  4. Actually, I’m surprise at how low the stats are for incoming freshmen, particularly given the immense number of applications. I would have expected a higher GPA, SAT and ACT showing. I think it indicates a fairly low yield.

I imagine much the same can be said about NEU.
