Graduates decorate their caps with messages of inspiration
If there’s one thing that’s unmistakable about Terriers, it’s their creativity. Just take a look around Nickerson Field at a BU Commencement. These grads have figured out how to stand out in a sea of scarlet caps and gowns and how to convey parting words to a crowd of 20,000. Their personal messages are on view for the world to see.
In what’s become an annual tradition, BU Photography sent photographers across Nickerson Field during Sunday’s Commencement in search of some of the most artful, inspirational, and humorous mortarboards. They found plenty, ranging from the heartfelt: “My parents crossed the border so I can cross the stage” to the philosophical: “When life gives you mountains, put on your boots and hike.” As always, many chose to give a shout-out (in several languages) to their parents for making the last four years possible. Have a look.
