There are 3 comments on Students Rally for Fossil Fuel Divestment

  1. Kudos to Divest BU members for taking action to encourage BU to lower its carbon emissions and to divest from fossil fuel companies! Bravo to the Trustees’ Advisory Committee for its wise and practical suggestions! This is what the world needs at this pivotal time. Thanks to you all for modeling the response Pope Francis invites in his Encyclical on the Environment!

  2. Energy pioneer Amory Lovins spoke yesterday at the BU Sustainable Energy Institute, and when asked about the BU Board of Trustees decision whether to continue to invest in fossil fuels, said “you mean they haven’t yet divested?” He went on to suggest that it would have been wiser for BU had it divested several years ago before the oil and gas bust. Finally, he specifically endorsed a process of “Divest-Invest”. I urge the Board of Trustees to consider these words of one of the world’s foremost experts on energy, whose predictions of energy transitions have been validated for over 40 years, and make the prudent and wise choice to discontinue our investment in fossil fuels.
