There is 1 comment on Closing the Gap

  1. I appreciate the aim of the CityLab and MobileLab, but touting the effort as “closing the gap” and helping “underprivileged” students is misleading since only “24 percent of the students” who attend are underprivileged. The pictures of the girls dressed in uniform from Dedham further support this, since they are from a very privileged private school (this is especially odd since one of their photos is placed in the middle of the “Troubling statistics” section, most of which does not apply to these students and makes me wonder even more why the percentage of underprivileged students being helped isn’t higher since they have to endure those difficult day-to-day events). Again, I appreciate the efforts of the program and everyone involved, but the article is misleading.
