  1. An excellent review of the current place of documentaries. I find them to be some of the most fascinating and powerful films and there’s great work of all varieties being done, from personal explorations to public service.

  2. Nice article. Glad that many BU alums are so deeply involved in documentary filmmaking. My aunt Connie Field is one of those filmmakers who is trying to “change the world” through her documentaries (see her website http://www.clarityfilms.org), which include Rosie the Riveter, Freedom on my Mind (nominated for an academy award) and more recently, a lengthy documentary series called Have You Heard from Johannesburg on the global anti-apartheid movement focused on South Africa. She has been a great inspiration to me and to many others. My own efforts to document life in China are quite modest in comparison, but draw inspiration from her great work and that of so many other documentarians in this vital field of film production!
