Concerts and Master Classes Part of Visiting Pianist Series
International pianists featured in CFA series tonight and Wednesday

Three world-renowned pianists will participate this week in the inaugural BU Visiting Pianist Series, hosted by Boaz Sharon, a College of Fine Arts professor and chair of the piano department.
Nansong Huang, who recently won first prize in the Liszt International Piano Competition in Moscow, will perform all 12 of Franz Liszt’s Transcendental Etudes tonight, September 21, at 7:30 p.m. Arseny Aristov, winner of the grand prize at the Liszt Competition, will play the Liszt Sonata and works by Scriabin and others on Wednesday, September 23, also at 7:30 p.m. Both concerts will take place at the Tsai Performance Center.
“It is a real privilege to have these young pianists come and play,” says Sharon, who as taught both Nansong, a native of China, and Aristov, a native of Moscow, and says they are among their countries’ finest pianists.
John Perry, a professor of keyboard studies at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, will lead piano master classes for BU students and the public during all three days of the event.
Sharon plans to present artists from around the world twice a year for this special series.
The performances, which begin at 7:30 p.m., will be held tonight, September 21, and Wednesday, September 23, in the Tsai Performance Center, 685 Commonwealth Ave. Perry’s classes, which begin at 10 a.m., will be held Monday, September 21, Tuesday, September 22, and Wednesday, September 23, in the CFA Concert Hall, 855 Commonwealth Ave.
