Pond Hockey
Tonight's film screening, open skate will benefit Jack Falla Memorial Fund

On the rink or in the broadcasting box, College of Communication sports journalism lecturer JackFalla was in his element. An evening to celebrate Falla’s love for the ice, with the screening of the documentary Pond Hockey, partly inspired by his book Home Ice: Reflections on Backyard Rinks and Frozen Ponds, will be held Wednesday, November 12, at Agganis Arena from 6 to 9:30 p.m.; doors open at 5:30. A minimum donation of $20 is requested. The event includesa reception, a silent auction, and an open skate on Jack Parker Rink. Youmust RSVP to attend.
Falla (COM’67,’90), who passed away suddenly from a heart attack on September14, was a former Sports Illustrated writer; he wrote Saved, a novel about a Boston Bruins goalie, and about his experiences with hockey, including on his home rink. The event benefits the Jack Falla Memorial Fund, created for the College of Communication’s future sports communicators and sports journalists.
