A night at the Hunger Banquet on Tuesday, February 27, doesn’t mean going hungry — the event, sponsored by BU Free the Children Campus Initiative, BU UNICEF, BU ONE Campaign, and BU PorColombia, will feature food from local restaurants Brown Sugar Café, Aneka Rasa, El Cafetal, and Gourmet India. Students will perform traditional Vietnamese, Indian, and Colombian dances, and Shayna Harris (CAS’03) of Oxfam and John Poore, a former Peace Corps volunteer in Sri Lanka, will speak about the country’s efforts to recover from the devastating 2004 tsunami. The dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the GSU’s Metcalf Hall. Tickets are $8 in advance at the GSU Link or $10 at the door, and all proceeds from the dinner will benefit the BU Free the Children fund for building a primary school in Sri Lanka.
