Happy third week of school, Terriers! We hope the semester stress isn’t getting to you yet, but just in case, here’s some fun stuff to help you wind down this weekend: arts and crafts, comedy, music, and kayaking, to name a few. There’s an event for everyone.

Pottery Night

Need some new dorm decor? Maybe a gift for your roommate? Join BU’s Archaeology Society for Pottery Night. Andrea Berlin, a College of Arts & Sciences professor of archaeology and religion and the James R. Wiseman Chair in Classical Archaeology, will teach about ceramics in the archaeological record—and Terriers can create their own pots.

Thursday, September 25, 6:30 to 8:30 pm, Gabel Museum of Archaeology, 675 Commonwealth Ave., Room 253.

Liquid Fun September Show

Get a good laugh at this free monthly comedy show hosted by BU’s premier improv comedy troupe Liquid Fun.

Friday, September 26, 8 to 9:30 pm, BU Central, 775 Comm Ave.

Arts Alive: CFA School of Music Showcase

Listen to first-rate performances from the BU Symphonic Chorus & Chamber Chorus, BU Pep Band, BU Chamber Orchestra, and BU Symphony Orchestra at this free showcase. Each ensemble will play different pieces, even some Terrier school spirit tunes.

Friday, September 26, 7:30 to 9:30 pm, Tsai Performance Center, 685 Comm Ave.

Sunset Kayaking

Catch a golden hour with a peaceful drift down the Charles River. Enjoy the vibrant colors and the city skyline on calm waters. It’s the best way to blend city vibes with nature’s beauty. Tickets are $25 for FitRec members and $30 for non-members. After registering, you’ll receive an email with more details.

Friday, September 26, 6:15 to 7:45 pm, Sailing Pavilion; register here. To get there, cross any Storrow Drive footbridge off Back Street, which runs parallel to Storrow, and proceed west along the bike path to the pavilion.

New England Aquarium Trip

The BU club Sustainable Ocean Alliance is taking its annual trip to the New England Aquarium. See the California sea lion, epaulette shark, giant Pacific octopus, corals, and more fascinating creatures while learning about ocean and marine life. Tickets are free, but you must show your BU student ID.

Saturday, September 27, 11 am to 1 pm; meet at Marsh Plaza to head over to the Aquarium via MBTA.

Pumpkin Picking

Welcome the fall season with a trip to a local pumpkin patch, where you can pick a pumpkin to carve, get some fresh cider, and take Instagram-worthy pictures. BU FitRec will provide round-trip transportation to the patch. Tickets are $25 for FitRec members and $30 for non-members. After registering, you’ll receive an email with more details.

Sunday, September 28, 6:30 am to 5 pm; location provided upon registration.

23rd Annual Brian J. Honan 5K Road Race

Just steps away from BU’s campus, runners and walkers will gather in Allston-Brighton September 28 to support the Brian J. Honan Charitable Fund, named for the late Boston city councilor representing Allston and Brighton, who died in 2002. This is the 23rd year of the race, and it remains a good way to support a great cause and get some outdoor time while weather permits.

Sunday, September 28, noon to 1 pm, CVS parking lot, 181 Brighton Ave., Allston. Registration is free for all BU students, faculty, and staff with promo code “BU.” Participants can pick up their race numbers on Saturday, September 27, from 10 am to 2 pm at FitRec, 915 Commonwealth Ave., or on race day starting at 10:30 am at the CVS parking lot. The race begins at noon and will be followed by the 42nd Annual Allston-Brighton Parade.
