CNBC Features GSM Student
Matt Solomon (SMG’01, GSM’08) gave trading advice on CNBC’s Fast Money.

Matt Solomon, a business administration and finance student in the Graduate School of Management, made his first television appearance this summer — on CNBC’s Fast Money.
Fast Money’s June 29 “Grade the Trade” segment featured Solomon (SMG’01, GSM’08) and two other MBA students. Each was given a business scenario an hour before the segment began and had 30 seconds on air to provide trading advice to a panel of former traders, who then graded the students.
The traders asked Solomon what he would buy and sell if a private equity firm bought MGM. His lowest grade, a B-, came from a trader who “didn’t like that I told him to sell Trump Casinos” Solomon says. “That Monday, the stock went down. It was ironic that he gave me a lower grade based on a trade that made a lot of money that following Monday.”
Solomon was asked to be on the show because of his interest in capital markets. “It’s a pretty cool show and pretty cool to talk to those guys,” he says. “It was an opportunity to be on TV and get noticed as one of the top MBAs.”
