Yoga instruction helps MET student make a smooth transition to Boston
MET student Carolyn Clark finds that yoga helps center her body and her mind.

Just two months after moving from New York City to Boston, Carolyn Clark, a part-time student at Metropolitan College, landed jobs teaching yoga at two local studios.
Clark teaches vinyasa flow yoga, a style of yoga that emphasizes meditative breathing and moving through poses to bring heat into the body, and children’s yoga, at Inner Space in Brookline and the Blissful Monkey in Jamaica Plain. She also gives private lessons.
Before obtaining certification at YogaWorks in New York, Clark was a student of yoga for more than seven years and taught at community centers around the city before moving to Boston, which she says is “more liveable” than New York. She is currently working toward a master’s degree in psychology at MET.
Yoga brings a lot of positive benefits to participants’ physical and emotional health, Clark says, making it a very important practice. “I first came to yoga when I was going through a very hard time,” she says. “It completely centers your mind. It realigns your physical and emotional well-being.”
