New MED and BMC surgeon to focus on surgery for epilepsy
Keith Davies was named a MED associate professor of surgery and an attending neurosurgeon at Boston Medical Center.

Keith Davies was recently appointed an attending neurosurgeon in the department of neurosurgery at Boston Medical Center and an associate professor of surgery at the Boston University School of Medicine.
Davies, who previously was an attending neurosurgeon at United Neurosurgery Associates in Saint Paul, Minn., hopes to develop a program at Boston University that focuses on surgical treatments for epilepsy. His clinical interests include the surgical procedures aimed at treating intractable epilepsy, including vagus nerve stimulation, intracranial electrode placement, and focal resections. His research interests include the pathophysiology of hippocampal sclerosis in temporal lobe epilepsy and the cognitive consequences of epilepsy surgery, particularly in language and naming.
Davies earned his medical degree from the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff, Wales, and completed his fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons in the United Kingdom. He is an ad hoc reviewer for the journals Brain, Epilepsia, Epilepsy and Behavior, and Epilepsy Research and has been published in nearly two dozen journals.
