BU Field Hockey

One of three Boston University fall teams to be named the America East preseason favorite in their respective sport, the field hockey program enters its 2005 campaign with high hopes under the direction of head coach Sally Starr, who is in her 25th season at the helm of Terriers.

After a 2004 season in which the Terriers finished 13-7 overall and reached the America East title game, the squad returns a potent blend of experience, youth and athleticism. Nine starters are back from last year’s team, including three regional All-Americans.

One of the returning all-region selections, senior Colleen McClay, will join classmate Caitlyn Cassara and junior Erin Calamari as tri-captains this fall. Sophomore Pam Speuhler, the 2004 America East Rookie of the Year, will look to take on a bigger role in the Terrier offense, while junior goalkeeper Erin Prediger enters her third season as a full-time starter.

BU opens its 2005 home schedule on Friday, Sept. 2, when it welcomes cross-town rival Boston College for a 6 p.m. contest at Jack Berry Field.
