Maxwell Palmer is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at Boston University and a faculty fellow at the Initiative on Cities. He studies Congress, electoral institutions, and local politics, with a focus on how institutions and rules impact representation and policy outcomes. His book, Neighborhood Defenders: Participatory Politics and America’s Housing Crisis, was published in 2019 by Cambridge University Press. He received his PhD in political science from Harvard University in 2014.
