Marika Swanberg

Marika Swanberg is a third year PhD student in Computer Science at Boston University and recipient of the Rafik B. Hariri Institute Graduate Student Fellowship. She works with professors Adam Smith, Ran Canetti, and Mayank Varia on research spanning rigorous data privacy techniques, privacy laws, and cryptography. 

Prior to joining Boston University, Marika earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Computer Science from Reed College in Portland, Oregon where she published a paper on differentially private statistical estimation (“Improved Differentially Private Analysis of Variance”). Her liberal arts education supported her interest in how to make the computer science field more equitable, accessible, and just.
