Katherine Standish, MD is an academic fellow and assistant professor of Family Medicine at Boston University. Her research focuses on clinical interventions to prevent early cessation of breastfeeding and support mothers’ breastfeeding intentions. Her research is with mother-baby pairs with barriers to breastfeeding in the U.S. and Latin America, particularly low-income, minority populations. Dr. Standish studied medicine at Yale University and completed her residency training at Boston Medical Center. Prior to studying medicine, she worked in community-based participatory research in New York City, Mexico, and Nicaragua. She also works at Manet Community Health Center where she provides primary care, women’s health care, and integrated mother-baby prenatal, post-partum and well-baby care.
