
Julia Raifman

Dr. Julia Raifman conducts research on health and social policy drivers of population health and health inequities, including in the burden of COVID-19. Dr. Raifman’s research has been covered in the New York Times, The Guardian, National Public Radio, and The Advocate. She led the creation of the CUSP database on health and social policy responses to COVID-19 that will be used and expanded as part of this grant. Dr. Raifman received her doctoral degree from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins prior to joining Boston University. Dr. Raifman is highly committed to supporting diversity in academia. She leads her department’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Committee and has championed structural changes in the department to improve equity, as well as presented to students about what they can do to be an antiracist force in academia. While at Johns Hopkins, she also created and led a “Diversity in Leadership” panel series.
