Jemel P. Aguilar is an associate professor at Southern Connecticut State University. Dr. Aguilar conducts research into health outcomes for low-income and people of color related to HIV disease and mental illness. Dr Aguilar has published extensively in prominent social work journals including Qualitative Social Work, Journal of Community Practice, and Culture, Sexuality, and Health. Dr. Aguilar is currently working on a series of projects about Oppression in American society and its relationship to health outcomes of socially, political, and economically subjugated populations.
