Professor Cati Connell is an associate professor of sociology at Boston University and director of the BU Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program. Her work takes an intersectional approach to the study of gender and sexuality in organizations. She is the author of School’s Out: Gay and Lesbian Teachers in the Classroom (2015), Contesting Racialized Discourses of Homophobia (2016), and the forthcoming book, A Few Good Gays, which focuses on the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, the gender integration of combat, and the ongoing question of transgender inclusion. Her courses (Sex & Social Life, Thinking Queerly, and Contemporary Debates in Sexualities Research) are grounded in antiracist pedagogy, texts, and theory.
