Amy K. Marks, PhD, is professor and chair of Psychology at Suffolk University. Her areas of research include immigrant youth development, the effects of discrimination and racism on child & adolescent health and well-being, and contextual risk/protective processes among minoritized and oppressed youth. She has served as a diversity consultant and as principal investigator on numerous grant-funded programs of research, including work on racial-ethnic identity development. Her published books include: Transitions: The Development of Immigrant Children (2015, NYU Press, winner of the 2016 SRA Social Policy Award); The Immigrant Paradox in Children and Adolescents: Is becoming American a developmental risk? (2012, APA Press); and Immigrant stories: Ethnicity and academics in middle childhood (2009, Oxford University Press). Her most recent applied work includes designing policy recommendations and interventions for government, community, and educational organizations seeking equity and inclusion for individuals holding marginalized identities.
