Upcoming Event: Ur Tournament at the HTC

On April  11 at 6:00 PM, the Howard Thurman Center and Grammy Award Winning Rap Artist Lupe Fiasco are hosting a tournament for the oldest game in the world, Ur.

The Royal Game of Ur is the oldest known board game, first played in Mesopotamia over 4,000 years ago. It’s a two-player board game that combines strategy, racing, and chance.

Players from all skill levels are invited to join for an exciting evening of strategic gameplay and fun. The tournament will follow the official Tournament Engine rule set, designed and sanctioned by the Société Internationale d’Ur. This rule set ensures fair play and competitive balance, and is used exclusively in all Playur tournaments around the world.

At the tournament, players will have the chance to compete for prizes and recognition, as well as the opportunity to connect with other Ur enthusiasts from around the Boston area. It’s a great chance to hone your skills, test your strategic prowess, and have fun in a supportive and engaging environment.

The tournament is limited to 32 students and will teach everyone how to play. Pre-register or learn more at www.playur.org.
