BU LGBTQIA+ Scholar Series: The Caged Bird Sings: Welcoming Identities Through Music-Making

This Friday’s BU’s LGBTQIA+ Scholars Series will feature Professor André de Quadros, Professor of Music, Music Education and affiliate faculty in African American Studies, African Studies Center, American & New England Studies Program, Center for Antiracist Research, Center for the Study of Asia, Elie Wiesel Center for Jewish Studies, Initiative on Cities, Institute for the Study of Muslim Societies and Civilizations, Latin American Studies, Pardee School Initiative on Forced Migration and Human Trafficking, Prison Education Program, and The Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range.

The arts are a distinct and unique means through which one can express one’s wholeness. In this session, Professor André de Quadros will trace a trajectory of LGBTQ+ narratives, issues, and problems from his childhood in South Asia, to LGBTQ group singing internationally to activism on the Mexico-US border, and masculinity in American prisons.
