Contextual Education Project
STH TC 811
The Contextual Education Project is a student-initiated, single-term experiential learning project that advances a student’s vocational discernment, professional development, and/or personal spiritual formation through faculty-supported, self-directed work. All projects must be supervised by an STH faculty member who meets regularly with the student throughout the term to support their progress. Students will spend at least 240 hours during one academic term completing their project, which must move the student beyond typical coursework and into real-life contextual leadership practice. Every project must include the production of at least one “deliverable,” that is, a tangible end-product that is presented in some public capacity. NOTE: The final deliverable cannot be an academic paper; there must be a public leadership and presentation component offered beyond the scope of the faculty supervisor alone. This course can be taken only in the Fall or Spring terms; TC811 is not available over the Summer term. Projects must be approved by the Contextual Education Office before registration. See the Contextual Education Office portion of the School of Theology website for the full project development process and deadlines. Can be taken for variable credit.
