The Research Seminar is a three-semester course that must be taken the first three academic semesters that a student enrolls in the MS program in speech-language pathology if they desire to complete a Thesis. The monthly seminar is designed to introduce students in a hands-on way to the research process in speech, language, and hearing sciences and to provide structured timelines for completion of thesis tasks while creating a peer community of other students engaged in the research process in their program cohort. The course will provide content related to the design and conduct of research. Through a combination of lectures, expert and peer feedback, written assignments, and oral presentations, students will develop research questions and/or hypotheses, conduct literature reviews, write a research proposal, perform data analyses, create early drafts of results in manuscript format, and contribute to the constructive critique of the work of classmates.
