GRS LF 860: Seminar: Topics in French Literature
Topic for Fall 2012: Gender and Nineteenth-Century French Literature. Ambiguities of gender identity serve as a lens through which to study the contradictions and tensions of post-Revolutionary writing. Texts include Balzac, Baudelaire, Chateaubriand, Zola; theoretical works by Foucault, Freud, Cixous, Irigaray, Bourdieu; articles on gender and specific literary texts. -
