Oper Arias for Pianists 2

Second of two courses for collaborative pianists in the study and performance of standard opera aria repertoire. Required for DMA collaborative piano majors with vocal or vocal/instrumental concentration. Open as elective credit by permission of instructor to music majors having requisite piano skills. The course will meet for two hours each week. Topics will include verismo style, French operas, 20th century works by Stravinsky and American composers, and a brief overview of operetta and cross over pieces. Students will be required to purchase opera aria anthologies and at least one complete opera in a piano/vocal edition. 2 credits, Spring semester. Pre-requisite: MU758
