SED ME 580: Connecting Seminar: Geometry
Focuses on how concepts developed in university-level geometry courses connect to and form the foundation for the middle and high school geometry curriculum. 2cr, either sem. -
SED ME 581: Advanced Topics in Algebra for Teachers
Exploration of advanced topics in algebra with emphasis on functions and the mathematical structures of group, ring, integral domain, and field. Connections are made among advanced algebraic concepts and middle and high school mathematics. 2 or 4 cr, 1st sem. -
SED ME 584: Inquiry for School Teachers
This course introduces graduate students in mathematics education and in-service mathematics teachers to the theory and practice of teacher-led inquiry. This course prepares teachers to conduct research studies for their own practice, including research design, data collection, data analysis and reporting findings. 4cr, Summer 1 -
SED ME 589: Designing Professional Development Programs in Mathematics Education
Students examine models for the professional development of mathematics teachers; conduct needs assessment of the teachers in their target groups; and design professional development programs that respond to those needs. Programs focus on upgrading mathematical content knowledge and pedagogical and assessment practices. 4cr, 2nd sem. -
