  1. What about rebuilding WTBU after that devastating fire?!?! Would love for the radio station to be up and running by time the kids get back! Loved listening to their programs!

  2. Do you know what is being done at 881 Comm Ave and 25 Buick Street? It looks like 25 Buick is getting a new roof, but what is happening at 881? Thanks!

  3. I lived in Myles for 2 years, 1983-85. I saw that they found old magazines. When I lived there, I could not see my face in the mirror to shave so I replaced the mirror in the medicine cabinet with a new piece of glass. When I took out the old mirror, in-between the glass and the back of the medicine cabinet, was a section of the sports section of the Boston Globe from I think 1927. It had Red Sox stats, with Babe Ruth and his 60th home run. I have it somewhere and need to find.

Let the project manager know, as treasures lurk in those walls, as well as many college stories :)

Also, I lived in Suite 818. Legend had it that it was Babe’s favorite room in the hotel, although I was never able to confirm other than hearsay.

  4. My son is scheduled to live there this year, is it safe? Has all asbestos, lead, and other dangerous materials been removed or will residents be at risk?

    1. Your son will be very safe in Myles Standish Hall. Regulated materials, such as asbestos, will be removed under strict state and federal guidelines. Industrial Hygienists will constantly monitor the site, as will University and contractor safety officers. Impermeable barriers will be set-up around the work area when asbestos abatement will take place, These enclosures block off all exits and openings such as doorways, windows, air ducts and drains. Before containment is taken down, the air is sampled to ensure that it is safe to remove the barriers. Also there is a buffer zone between occupied areas of Myles Standish Hall and the construction zone. The buffer zone has exiting and temporary walls sealed with plastic sheeting and tape. Negative air pressure will be maintained using HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) fans in the buffer zone to prevent dust and odors from entering the occupied areas.

  5. I’m still confused about what’s happening to the 808 parking lot (Lot F) are they destroying it to build some new building on it? So permit owners will no longer be able to park there?

    1. Anon, the new building described in the section called “BU Theatre Center
820-846 Commonwealth Avenue” is being built in the former parking lot adjacent to 808. There will be parking again once the building is complete.

    2. That is the Theatre Center at 820 Comm mentioned above. No parking during construction but there will be a parking garage below the building when completed

  6. What happened with the renovations to the CFA main building that was supposed to be completed, but appears not to have started? The renovations to the old car dealership (now CFA) was to bring back the first floor windows and open the space with galleries, etc.

    1. I believe in a previous article, it was mentioned that the sale of the Huntington Theater allowed the new BU Theater project to get a quick start, as it was now funded. This in turn pushed the CFA first floor renovation and restoration back.

  7. Does anyone know the story with the proposed new dorm for West Campus? I believe it’s in the master plan the University submitted to the city, but I haven’t heard anything in a while–it’d be great if that started up soon, to help alleviate the cost of living in Boston.
