Advice for the Class of 2016

Class of 2012 leaves behind some words of wisdom

Talk to strangers. Learn how to do laundry and wash dishes. Check the weather every day.

These are among the tips that members of the Class of 2012 wanted to pass on to the Class of 2016 before they graduated last May. At that time, we asked them to reflect on their four years at BU. But we also asked them to share some advice with the incoming class—things they wished they’d known as freshmen, strategies and coping methods that worked for them as they learned to negotiate the world of BU.

So take a minute to listen to some former Terriers. And remember: your four years here will go by very quickly.

Goldig! (=German for “sweet”) Thanks, class of 2012! I agree with everything you said, especially about the rain … It makes for good companionship, too. After all, we’re in it together. — Welcome to the class of 2016 (and everyone in between).
