Missed Commencement weekend’s BU Alumni Night at the Boston Pops, where legendary composer John Williams surprised BU honoree Steven Spielberg (Hon.’09) by conducting a medley of music from his films?

Spielberg has left town, but Williams (Hon.’85) hasn’t, and he’ll be making a few guest appearances at Symphony Hall for this week’s series Film Night, an evening of the composer’s haunting, evocative scores from films such as E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, Superman, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The series also features the world premiere of Williams’ Viola Concerto, to be performed by Pops principal violist Cathy Basrak.

Performances are tonight, May 26, through Friday, May 29, at 8 p.m. at Symphony Hall, 301 Massachusetts Ave. Tickets start at $20, and Boston University students, faculty, and staff receive a 30 percent discount. To purchase tickets, call 888-266-1200 or visit the event Web site.
