The legendary lothario
Be the first to see Boston Baroque perform Don Giovanni at a dress rehearsal tonight at 7 p.m.
Boston Baroque, the resident ensemble at the College of Fine Arts school of music, will present Mozart’s Don Giovanni — a retelling of the classic tale of legendary lothario Don Juan — this weekend at the New England Conservatory. BU students, faculty, and staff can preview the opera for free at a special dress rehearsal tonight, Tuesday, October 10, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the CFA concert hall, 855 Commonwealth Ave. Conductor Martin Pearlman, a CFA professor, will lead the Grammy-nominated period orchestra and chorus.
Later this week, the ensemble and the University Professors Program will further explore the piece and its history in a roundtable discussion, with music, on Thursday, October 12. Pearlman will be joined by Bruce Redford, director of UNI, and other guests to discuss The Legend of Don Juan: Mozart’s Don Giovanni and His Predecessors. The session begins at 7 p.m. in the College of General Studies auditorium, 871 Commonwealth Ave.
