Information and systems engineering are disciplines that directly apply to many problems in our society. CISE faculty and students pursue solutions using methodological research within a common set of technical areas—applied probability, computer science, control and decision theory, information theory, machine learning, networking, operations research, optimization, signal processing, simulation, stochastic processes, and statistics.
