Student Assistants

Brendan Galvin is a junior majoring in journalism with a minor in business administration. Coming from West Roxbury, Massachusetts, just 30 minutes from campus, he grew up engulfed in the rich sports culture of Boston and hopes to turn his love of sports into a career in sports management or sports media. Throughout his three semesters as a CISE Student Writer, he has covered topics such as autonomous vehicles, smart spaces, and surgical soft robotics. Outside of CISE, he is the vice president of the Sports Business Club, a writer and editor for Daily Free Press Sports, a writer for WTBU Sports, and a member of the baseball team. He is currently interning with Skyhawk Sports Academy, an educational youth sports program that aims to teach life skills through sports. In his spare time, he enjoys exercising, catching Red Sox games, and spending time with family and friends.

Sheryl Peng is a senior studying graphic design at Boston University and an office assistant at CISE. Originally from New Jersey, Sheryl grew up heavily involved in the arts, which ultimately influenced her to pursue a creative career. Her design interests lie in branding and publishing, niches she hopes to work in someday. During her time at BU, she’s been involved in FORGE, BU’s student-run design studio, and Untangle Magazine. Currently, she is a design intern at Group SJR and also a founding member of SlingShott, a dating app startup. In her free time Sheryl enjoys staying active, hitting the driving range, and reading.

Mia is a junior from Palo Alto, California, majoring in International Relations and minoring in History. She joined CISE with extensive journalism experience by working for the International Relations Review, the Daily Free Press, and previously, her high school newspaper. On campus, she serves as a Pardee Dean’s Ambassador and is involved with Delta Phi Epsilon, BarMUN, and the Women’s Water Polo team. In her free time, she enjoys trying different coffee shops and restaurants, reading, and traveling.
