You are expected in Paris as early as possible on arrival day. Most flights departing from the US East Coast in the evening, arrive in Paris early in the morning the following day. Allow approximately two hours for collecting luggage, clearing customs, and arriving at your housing assignment which you will have received before leaving. Telling the Paris office when you plan to arrive on arrival day is crucial. Try to arrive as early in the day as possible to settle in, unpack and catch up on jet lag. Students are not met at the airport. All students must find their way to their housing assignments which will be sent approximately 2 weeks before the start of the program.

You may not move in to your housing if you arrive before the start date. If you are in staying with French hosts and are uncertain of your time of arrival, make sure to call them on arrival day to decide together the best time to move in.
Should your flight be delayed, call our Paris office. Be sure to have the phone number for the Paris office with you while you are travelling to Paris. While you are in transit, communication with the Boston University staff in Paris is critical in the event of flight delays, cancellations, etc. Arrangements can be made, but we need to know where you are. If you have not arrived to your housing assignment by 5 p.m. (Paris time) on arrival day, we will need to contact your parents. If a friend or relative is meeting you at the airport in Paris, be sure your parents know how to contact this person. If you arrive in Paris earlier than the official arrival date and/or stay later than the official departure date, you will need to make your own housing arrangements. You may wish to consult a travel guide for ideas on accommodations.
The day following your arrival, all internship students should report the BU Center at 9:45am with their passport and stamped OFII document from the consulate (if applicable):
