Brunching Through DC

As a dedicated foodie, I am a brunch fanatic. In fact, I regularly use brunch in verb form. Brunching in The District is much different than brunching in Boston. For one, many restaurants in DC serve all-you-can-drink, bottomless Mimosas and/or Bloody Mary’s. In Boston, a city that frowns upon public debauchery, no such brunch option is offered, as bottomless brunch is illegal in the state of Massachusetts. Luckily, in DC, a haven for young professionals, brunch can be found in a variety of different neighborhoods each with distinct flavors.
After following this short list of brunch Do’s and Don’ts check out my recommendations of DC brunch spots.
DO Make a Reservation
Brunching is a popular hobby, especially on Sundays. If you’re not going early enough to beat the crowd (Read: before 11AM), and don’t want to wait 40minutes to an hour for a table to open up, make a reservation. This applies whether you’re embarking on a brunch for two or going with your entire squad.
DO Respect Your Limits
If you are of age and decide to take advantage of DC’s glorious bottomless brunch options be sure to respect your limits.
DON’T Forget to Tip
Brunching is no different than any other restaurant meal. Remember to tip your server!
DO Yelp it
Looking up a restaurant on yelp, is a great way to research a new brunch option. Many places in DC also offer a discount through the app when you check-in via the Yelp mobile app.
Hidden inside the Marriott Courtyard hotel, Nage offers a wonderful selection of cocktails including four types of Bloody Mary’s and a variety of seasonally flavored Mimosas. Try their Kill It Skillet that features a layer of decadent mac and cheese with chorizo and bacon, topped with crispy French fries drizzled with truffle oil, and topped with a fried egg. They also have crowd pleasing red velvet cupcakes!
