Upward Bound Success Story

Upward Bound alum Brianna Bourne (CAS’24, CAMED’26) (left) earned her master’s in mental health counseling and behavioral medicine at the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine’s graduation ceremony May 14. On hand to hood her was Reggie Jean (right), project director of Upward Bound, a federal program that provides academic support to first-generation, low-income college-bound students. Bourne discovered her passion for medicine in high school through an Upward Bound internship, coordinated by BU, and later returned to the program as a tutor. “I have known Brianna for 10 years and was honored to be her hooder at the CAMED ceremony,” Jean says.
