Boston University’s 2026 MLK, Jr. (GRS’55, Hon.’59) Celebration

Sociologist and visual artist Eve L. Ewing, a University of Chicago associate professor (right), delivered the keynote address at BU’s annual MLK Day Celebration, cohosted with the city of Boston. The theme of the January 19 event, “Justice Indivisible: Fighting Racism, Greed, and War,” which drew a crowd of nearly 700 to the GSU, was inspired by a speech the civil rights leader gave in 1967: “The Three Evils of Society.” Other speakers included BU President Melissa Gilliam and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu. Paula Austin (left), a College of Arts & Sciences associate professor of history and of African American and Black Diaspora Studies, led a conversation with Ewing. Photo by Zara Meggett
