BU Welcomes Boston School Students for STEM Exploration

For Massachusetts STEM Week, Boston’s John D. O’Bryant High School of Math & Science Biomedicine Pathway Program students visited BU’s Medical Campus October 24. Cosponsored by Community & Government Affairs and the medical school’s ACCESS Granted Program, they visited several research spaces, among them the CyroEM Core Facility, Center for Regenerative Medicine (CReM), Hawkins Lab, Ishibashi Lab, and Hagedorn Lab. The students gained insight into the work of biomedical research, observing scientist and technicians at work and learning about opportunities in STEM fields. The day concluded with a STEM Career Panel of BU and BMC professionals. Michael Herriges (above, right), an assistant professor of medicine, led a tour of several CReM laboratory spaces.
