There is 1 comment on BUILD Tutoring Program Celebrates 20 Years

  1. Programs like BUILD are invaluable because of the opportunity gaps that they help close. There is increasing evidence that there is a 30 million “word gap” between children from low-income and affluent families (https://eric.ed.gov/?id=EJ672461).

Kudos to Mike Dennehy, the hardworking BUILD staff (Aaron, LB and Shana) and all the tutors. Well done to Chad Garner for all his behind the scenes coordination. Lastly, good job to the university for supporting this program and recognizing its accomplishments.

The literacy tutoring that young students puts them on a trajectory that can alter their academic and personal lives!
